Camp Chardi Kala, fondly known by its previous camp site "Camp Tuscarora", is the most
established camp in the United States. This year will mark the
30th year that Khalsa Youth from around the world come together
and enjoy the Chardi Kala at camp. In those 30 years, almost 5000
Sikh youths have attended this camp.
The primary objective of the camp is to provide a religious experience
to reinforce the belief in Sikhism and the Sikh way of life. The
camp atmosphere strengthens the youth's character as Sikhs so
that they may serve as a model for the rest of the community.
This is achieved through an environment conducive to sharing concerns
and strengthening beliefs as well as planned group and individual
group activities.
We place great value on the Khalsa way of life - every day at
Camp Chardi Kala starts with Nitnem and ends with Kirtan Sohila.
In between, we have diwaan, Kirtan, academic classes, fun, thought
provoking discussions, fun, guest speakers, sports, hiking, Kirtan,
fun.......and of course lots of Chardi Kala!
The camp is open to children between the ages of 8-25.
The camp fee is $260 per camper. As you know this fee is
based on the fees we are required to pay per camper.
The full camp fee along with the complete Registration Form
and the Parental Consent and Release Form must be
sent as soon as possible.
Please make sure the forms are filled completely. A limited number
of need-based scholarships are available. Please call for details.
This year's camp will be held at a new site called
Camp Na-Sho-Pa.
The camp site features cabins and offers numerous outdoor
activities and water sports. Featured at the site is an indoor
gym with basketball court, ping-pong and foosball tables, an
Olympic size swimming pool, three baseball fields, two street
hockey rinks, six tennis courts, basketball courts and much
more.
In addition to the regular classes in Sikh history, Gurmukhi, and Gurbani Kirtan, classes will be given in leadership
training, Gurudwara maryada, and turban tying.
Special Note: This year we
have an outstanding cadre of Kirtan teachers. We therefore particularly
encourage all campers to bring their own musical instruments:
especially if they wish to have personalized Kirtan classes.
Martial Arts: There will be a special program for those
who want to learn the Khalsa Martial Arts
VISITORS: Parents/friends are discouraged from visiting
